Hitachi to Intro DK-H31S HD Camera at NAB 2006 Rugged and Versatile New Camera Delivers Unparalleled 1080i or 720p Capabilities (January 30, 2006)

Recognizing that professionals don?t want to trade durability for image quality, Hitachi Kokusai Electric America, Ltd. debuts a compact, full HDTV camera built for such demanding environments as shooting from the air, for sports production, within robotic systems, and for high-end surveillance applications. To be introduced at NAB 2006 (Booth C3926), the DK-H31S HDTV camera delivers an unparalleled image without sacrificing any ruggedness.

The two-piece DK-H31S provides full HDTV resolution in either 1080i or 720p formats due to the use of 2/3-inch CCDs.

?This new two-piece HDTV camera is designed to address the growing demand for versatile, compact HDTV cameras for many demanding applications,? said Emilio Aleman, Product Manager, Broadcast & Professional, Hitachi Kokusai Electric America, Ltd.  ?The camera is especially rugged and withstands harsh use such as encountered in broadcast sports and aircraft applications. No compromises have been accepted in picture quality to achieve HDTV performance.  Users will benefit from its small compact camera head design and CCU. It?s a new breed of camera unlike others on the market.?

Other ideal applications for the DK-H31S include such things as military vision sub-assemblies and high-end industrial vision systems where the extra space provided by the small head is typically used for increased magnification optics (larger lens) inside robotic assemblies.

The DK-H31S HDTV Camera will be available in the fourth quarter of 2006. Pricing will be announced during the show by Hitachi sales representatives.

Hitachi Denshi, Ltd. designs, manufacturers and markets video cameras, digital transmission and recording for the broadcast television, cable, video production, and industrial vision markets. Content Insider #148 - The iGen
NO...Doesn't have a thing to do with "that" smartphone...or "that" store...or "that" tablet. It's the next generation. Kids and we mean little kids. That's what today's products are being designed for/targeted at. You happen to buy one...fine. Watch a little, little kid pick up a smartphone. He/she just uses it. They've come pre-wired and we're still trying to figure out how to IM. It's the IGen. They want it instantly. They want to use it instantly. They expect their photos, their video, their music, their stuff immediately when/where/how they want it. Read More

Insider #149 - Game Demographics
The blood, gore, adrenalin challenges that were unveiled at E3 and enjoyed at ComicCon are fun to look at, easy to hold but are they really the games people want to plunk down their credit cards to own or rent time with? Seems as though the investors, the players who control the controllers have a different idea of a "good" game than the kids who develop them. While mobs of people play educational, informational, stimulating games our kid huddles in his room and mumbles "The Few, The Proud, The Gamers." Read More
